This morning we ate a delicious breakfast at Floyd and Natalies (mixed berry parfait and banana bread!) before heading off to a different part of the reservation to help an elder build a raised garden bed for growing vegetables. Millie, the elder, noted that away from the house there was a large, fenced garden plot that had overgrown. Upon weeding, we found beautiful, healthy soil and spent some fun, group quality time removing the brush from the plot so that they could plant food in the spring. After lunch, Aunt Millie instructed us in traditional Lakotan beading, which proved to be a challenge for most of us.
